Illustration Friday: Wise

Illustration Friday: Wise
Center = Repousse (pressed metal)
Mat= Acrylic Paint
"Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a WISE man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash."
Matthew 7:24-27
Here is my interpretation of "Wise". The center of the picture is pressed metal with an india ink wash. I continued the design in color on mat board with acrylic paint.

Illustration Friday: Strings

Illustration Friday: Strings

Pen and Ink

Pastel

Here are a couple of quick drawings I did for this week's theme "Strings". The first one was a pen and ink sketch and the second was done with chalk pastels. I wish I could have spent a little more time and developed one drawing fully.

Illustration Friday: Detach

Illustration Friday: Detach
Acrylic
I don't think I have done an Illustration Friday project since June. It has been a busy summer. This week's theme was "Detach". I went out jogging this morning and passed by these flowers with some petals and even a little flower had come detached after the rain.

Landscape

Seoul Landscape
Watercolor and colored pencil
I took an online teacher workshop through the Metropolitan Museum of Art this summer. The workshop focused on landscapes and I learned so much. One of our assignments required us to create a landscape that depicted our environment. I made a picture of Gyeongbokkung, a palace in downtown Seoul. It shows one of the things that I love about living here---seeing buildings that are hundreds of years old surrounded by modern skyscrapers.

Illustration Friday: Forgotten

Illustration Friday: Forgotten

Pen and Ink

This week's theme was "Forgotten". I drew images from the Korean War (1950-1953) which is often called "The Forgotten War". June 6 was Korean Memorial day so that is what I thought of when I saw the theme for the week.
